Rtn.RR Memorial Interact RYLA : 16th Feb 2013
On Saturday the 16th Feb 2013 our club conducted "Rajagopal Memorial Interact RYLA" at SDH Jain Vidhyalaya, Thirupalai, Madurai. "Learn to Lead"
was the theme of this meet.
The inaugural speech by our eminent member Rtn. N. Siva subramanian was very wonderful and thought provoking. It really stimulated the budding youngsters to decide their direction of progress in their life .
He outlined the efforts to be put in to shape the future India in a better way. He said that different countries are known for different talents e.g. U.S.A. for their progress in communication, U.K for medicine, Germany for mechanics, Japan for its untiring efforts, UAE for their oil wealth. But India is known for its intellectual talents.
He very much emphasised that the future of a nation depends upon its progress and achievements in the field of science and the related researches just like that in the present China. He rightly pointed out that the Indian school
syllabus and the teachers lack in the knowledge of modern scientific developments.
The laboratories in our schools should be updated and modernised every now and
then.
He advised
for a curriculam of half- a - day theoretical teaching and the other half
practical learning. He asked the students to have the flare to excel in their
achievements. For this he cautioned them to decide their goals and future
action as early as possible and emphasised that the last 1000 days in their
school life will play a great role in moulding their bright future.
He was very
correct in stating that the parents and the teachers should take the
responsibility in making their kids to develop their individual skills and put
in special efforts in that direction.
He asked
certain very interesting questions such as what is a leap year (29 days in
February, once in 4 years and its result.) What is a leap second and the time
interval between two leap seconds (once in 11 years), the last occurrence of
the leap second (2012 November), how it is measured (by an atomic clock).
Rtn.
Nagasamy Subramanian was awarded the "Life Time Achievement Award" by
the Tamil film actor Sivakumar
through his Methagu Kamarajar Foundation on 15th February 2013 and
in 1996 he received an award
for medical application stunt.
In 1994 the
government of India recognized his scientific researches and honoured him with
an award. He has 40 years of experience and has worked in ISRO and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai
Institute along with our expresident of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr.
Madhavan and such other well known scientists.
