It has been a historic moment on 18-Dec-2009 at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, India and Rotary Club of Madurai West. Rtn.CR.Chandran, President of the Club along with secretary Rtn.Meenakshi Sundaram organized an elaborate meeting in the presence of Rtn.A.Purushothaman, District Governor of RID 3000.
Dr.DK.Raja, an old student of Madurai Medical college, now working at West Wales General Hospital, Carmathen, UK chose the Rotary Club of Carmathen, UK and Rotary Club of Madurai West in India for a good cause. He chose both these clubs to transport and donate the latest Integrated Anaesthesia Stations worth about 1.20 Crores to Government Rajaji Hospital located in Madurai, Tamilnadu in India which is serving lots of poor and needy people.
The stations come as a boon to the patients undergoing surgery in the hospital. Death due to anaesthesia complications would be minimized with these latest machines.
Thanks to the steneous efforts of Rtn.DL.Viswanathan, Project Contact whose persistent follow up with customs officials in India made them release the machines.
In the eventful meeting, the machines were handed over to the Government Hospital represented by its Dean Dr.Sivakumar and HOD Dr.Chandrasekaran, in the presence of Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Sebastin.
Kudos to Rotary club of Carmathen, UK and Rotary Club of Madurai West. Both of you have lived to the true spirit of Rotary : SERVICE ABOVE SELF. Long live all the good hearts.
