Know your Members:

In Rotary, we usually print a book (club roaster) with details of each member. And whenever there was a change in the information printed - like the phone number, address etc, these roasters became outdated. Hence we had to update it again and print it. And collecting information from members was a herculean task. While majority of them give these inputs gladly, few of them are too busy to spare time for it. Above all, the content printed is limited to basic data like contact details, email, classification etc.

While I was thinking about this 'limited reach', came the idea of publishing members profile in our blog and shot a message in our group:

The response has been amazing. Many responded with thumbs up and encouraged it with generous words.

The beauty of this activity is:

  • The member reflects himself and writes his profile page.
  • These articles can be spiced up with few photos - like childhood, wedding, professional achievements, passion etc.
  • Any member can read it through, understand, admire and appreciate their association. It is bound to bring in mutual respect and closeness.
  • Members can comment on these article / profile - which would be published, provided it builds goodwill and friendship.
  • Above all, anyone who googles on our member might land on our webpage and read through interesting facts about them.
The Rotary Four Way Test says,

I hope, you would agree that this activity passes through the Four Way Test!
